Vertical multistage centrifugal pumps troubleshooting

※ Before you dismantle the pump or open terminal box, please make sure the power has turned off.

 Unusual phenomenon Malfunction Routine/Cause Solutions
 The pump can’t start.
  1. No power.
  2. Fuse is burned up.
  3. Starter overload device turns off.
  4. Thermal protector  turns off.
  5. Starter doesn’t connect properly or wiring is broken.
  6. Control circuit is broken.
  7. Motor is malfunctioned.
  1. Replaces it.
  2. Replaces it.
  3. Reset it.
  4. Reset it.
  5. Repairs it. 
  6. Examines it.
  7. Repairs it.
After it starts, overload protector stops the motor.
  1. One of the fuses is burned up.
  2. Overload device isn’t connect properly.
  3. Power plug isn’t connect properly or fail.
  4. Motor coil malfunctions.
  5. The pump is jammed. 
  6. Overload setting is too low.  
  1. Replaces it.
  2. Replaces it.
  3. Reconnects or replaces it.
  4. Repairs it.
  5. Examines it. 
  6. Resets it.
  7. Resets it.
The starter closes the motor sometimes.
  1. Overload setting is too low
  2. Voltage is too low When electricity usage is at high peak.
  1. Resets it.
  2. Examines power supply system.
The pump won’t start after the starter is connected.
  1. Examines item 1--A, B, D, E and F.

 
Capacity is not stable
  1. Suction pressure is too low.
  2. Suction pipeline is stuck by obstacle.
  3. Suction pipeline diameter is too small.
  1. Examines it.
  2. Cleans the pipeline.
  3. Increases diameter of pipeline.
The pump is running, but no water coming out. 
  1. Suction pipeline is stuck by obstacle.
  2. Foot valve or check valve is stuck.
  3. Suction pipeline is leaking
  4. Air inside the pipeline.
  5. Motor fan reverses. 
  1. Cleans it
  2. Repairs it
  3. Repairs it
  4. Examines suction pipeline
  5. Changes wiring connection.
After the power is turned off, the fan turned reverse. 
  1. Suction pipeline is leaking.
  2. Foot valve or check valve is damaged.
  1. Repairs it
  2. Repairs it
The mech. seal is leaking.  1. The mech. seal is damaged.
  1.  Replaces it.
 Noise
  1. Cavitation
  2. Pump shaft is not balanced
  3. Actual head produced by pump is not up to customer expectation.
  4. Inverter is not working.
  1. Checks suction pipeline status.
  2. Adjusts it.
  3. Replaces to another model.
  4. Checks inverter.
